Trying not to freak...

Yeah, so I just looked at my finances for the next week and a half. I am so fucked, and not in the good way. I really need to buy some groceries (at this point it's going to be just peanut butter, jelly & bread). The play's on friday, I'm supposed to go to the movies on saturday with Justin, Karen, Soraia & perhaps N(iels), that's going to have to get cancelled. Rent's due on the first (I have until the 5th) and the direct withdrawl for my credit card consolidation gets taken out on the 5th. As it stands, without the play, movies or groceries, and not spending any money between now and next payday, I will have a negative $50.09 in my....shiiiiittttttttttttttttttttttttttt......... I've totally forgotten about James' birthday present, which comes out on the 4th......I preordered it from Amazon.com..... I'm going to have to cancel it & reorder it on the 7th. I'm such a numbskull. How do I do this to myself?? (By not keeping better track of my checkbook, that's how....)

I wish I was rich.

On top of money stress, school stress has kicked in full swing. I have to rewrite my Shakepeare paper tonight, a group project is due next week, a paper due on November 12th, and another on the 18th..... How can it be nearing the end of the semester already???

On a good note... I preordered The Best of REM In Time 1988-2003 when I actually had money. Well it came in yesterday. And on the bonus CD William Burroughs does the song Star Me Kitten... It's hysterical to hear him say "fuck me kitten, yeah fuck me kitten..." mmwwwaahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa

New Tattoo

Recently got back from the tattoo/pagan shop. I'm a wee bit sore from mynew addition. I got the Om (in red) on my right shoulder and it's still smarting a little. It's beautiful, the woman who did it also did the one on the small of my back a few years ago. She was really flattered that I got it done at her shop. Well, Buffalo needs some economic boosting, so if I can help out I will. Plus her work is amazing and she's super super cool.

I was hoping to see an aunt of mine afterwards (she doesn't live too far from the shop), but she was still at work when I called. I'm hoping we can meet up tomorrow morning, otherwise I won't see her until I come back at Christmas time. She's my Dad's sister and she is this amazingly strong, funny, generous woman.

Meeting up with Kate tonight. She has a work function that's going until 7pm, but she's going to sneak out a little early so we can go pick her car up at the shop. Then we're going to go out with some of her work friends to an old local haunt of mine called Gabriel's Gate. They have Guinness on tap & really good wings mmmm mmmm good!!

Love & smoochies to you.

Shuffle off to Buffalo...

Twelve hours from now I'll be in sunny Buffalo, finishing off a late dinner with Kate & discussing the stories she sent me to edit (I love being her Editor, I can't write for shit, but boy can I edit!). My nephew James' 8th birthday is monday and his party's sunday afternoon, so I'm going up to hang with friends & family, and add to my tattoo collection. It's been a rough couple weeks school and work wise, so it is a much needed minibreak, before all hell breaks loose with upcoming papers and projects. Oh yeah, I have to rewrite my Shakespeare paper while up there, so it won't be ALL fun and games.

Big step in my relationship with N happened last night, he spent the night. He's so sweet and nice and funny and cute and I'm so smitten. It was kind of weird for me to hear him refer to me as his girlfriend, because it's so foreign to me. I mean I am his girlfriend, but I just can't seem to call him my boyfriend, even though he is. I know I'm a freak.

Off to bed, am quite sleepy. Sweet dreams...

Sandman

N is soooo sweet!!! A couple weeks ago we were hanging out & I mentioned in passing that I wanted to read The Sandman ever since I read an interesting article on Niel Gaiman in Entertainment Weekly. Well, yesterday N came over & he said that he got me a gift. Of course the dirty perv I am asked it was porn, and he said no. So, I unwrapped the present and it was volume one of The Sandman! I was (still am) very excited about it!!! Isn't that sooooo sweet!!! I totally forgot that I had mentioned it until he brought it up!! A boy who actually listens!!! I am so smitten!!

Happy monday to you all!!

Weird Dreams Abound

Last night I had a dream I was having lunch with a friend (I think it was Karen but didn't look like her) on a rooftop restaurant up in Georgetown and the whole dream was of me telling her that I was pregnant (I remember looking down at my belly to see that I was indeed preggers) and I didn't know what I was going to do because it's something I didn't want. I didn't want to be pregnant and it was too late to do anything about it and I was miserable. I remember saying at least four times, "I don't want to be pregnant. I don't want this baby. I have no clue what I'm going to do."

Very odd indeed.

Jason Mraz

I knew I logged on to the internet for a reason. I got an email from the Jason Mraz website with the updated list of upcoming concerts. He's been listed to play at the 9:30 Club on his site for weeks, but nothing on the 9:30 site, so I checked and low and behold! It's been announced. So, I quickly got two tickets, one for me & one for Matt. The show starts at 7:30, so hopefully I won't have to leave the show early to ensure a metro ride home!!! I am wayyyy excited!!

Politics

I called my Congressmen's offices today to tell them, that as their constituent I would like them to vote against Bush's proposed $87 billion for Iraq. It was a very interesting learning experience. When I called my Representative's office (Democrat) the receptionist was very very nice, asked my name and address and thanked me for calling. When I called my Senators' (very scary Republicans) offices it was a diffrent story, they didn't ask my name, it was as if they could careless about my opinion, they were very curt. Ahhh the joys of living in Virginia.

Had dinner with N this evening. It went very very well, I now have a beau, and it's the weirdest (in a good way) feeling. I had gotten so used to being alone that to have someone in my life has taken a bit of adjusting, dealing with insecurities and standing up to my fear of commitment. Family weekend's this weekend (his mom & dad are coming to town) and I'm going away next weekend, so we're not going to be able to spend quality time together for the next two weeks. He has a huge midterm next week so we mostly likely won't see each other until I get back. We're both frustrated because we won't be able to see each other, but we both talked about how making quality time might be difficult because of school, and that we just have to work around it and be patient.

With that all said, I am very happy. And as Anastasia said this evening... "It's about fucking time."

The British

The British are at it again.... pointing out things the American media refuses to discuss (Come on say it with me... HEGEMONY)....

All the President's votes?
A quiet revolution is taking place in US politics. By the time it's over, the integrity of elections will be in the unchallenged, unscrutinised control of a few large - and pro-Republican - corporations. Andrew Gumbel wonders if democracy in America can survive...

Lalalalalalalaaaaaaaaaa

heheheheheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Just spent the past few hours making out with a cute German boy.... We also had a really good talk about what is going on with the two of us.

Oh I forgot to mention the last time I posted.... Justin got tickets for opening day of Return of the King at the Uptown, except, we're not going to be watching just Return of the the King... nosireebobby. We will be spending the day watching ALL THREE MOVIES. Yup, you read correctly. At 1pm Fellowship, 5:30 Two Towers, 10:30 Return of the King. I am mad mad mad mad. I will also have to make sure to do all I can as not to get a blood clot from sittinf for 12 hours. Thank goodness there'll be hour and a half break between films.

Okeydokey, off to finish the tailend of my Sociology paper.

Sweet dreams to you all.

I know you called...

Has nothing to do with anything I'm going to post about, but I'm listening to REM and I like the song, it's from Star 69.

I know I said I'd post about the concert, but I'm so gosh darn tired, that I don't know if it's going to happen this evening. I think I'm still absorbing it all. I will say this: It was amazing, I was 5 feet away from Michael Stipe at the end of "It's the End of the World As We Know It (and I Feel Fine). During that same song, I was about 6 feet away from my dream boy Mike Mills. Trying to get home is a story unto itself. And I can't imagine having shared that evening with anyone else other than Kate.

Should be wrapping up my sociology paper, but I'm procrastinating. Must dig through articles and find a topic & write about it from a conflict theory perspective. Oh the excitement.

I got my hair cut today, not just one hair, but all of them. Owen, my hairdresser, chopped about 5 inches off, it's short, but I still can pull the front up into a barrette. I feel about 10 pounds lighter.

Getting together with N tomorrow night. I really like him (even if I don't sound excited about it, Ms Beaverhausen) and the likelyhood that this may turn into an actual relationship, scares the crap out of me. It is taking my all to not to run screaming in the opposite direction of something that might be a really good thing.

If you want to destroy my sweater....

It's offically fall when I bring out my ratty maroon sweater. I know I get made fun of by my nearest and dearest friends, but I don't care!! It's comfy. Who cares that there's holes in it, and the cuffs on the sleeves are all ripped up. Nope, not me.

Happy Monday to you!!!

Two days until the REM concert!!! I'm so excited I could pee.

Friday Five

1. What vehicle do you drive?
hahahahahaaa I don't own a car. Does taking the bus count?

2. How long have you had it?
Well, if the bus counts, I've had it for about five years.

3. What is the coolest feature on your vehicle?
It fits about 30 people.

4. What is the most annoying thing about your vehicle?
It's not always on time. And when I miss it by 2 minutes, I have to walk to the metro or wait upto a 1/2 hour for the next one to come.

5. If money were no object, what vehicle would you be driving right now?
Volkswagon Beetle or Volvo Crosscountry Wagon.

Procrastination!!

*buurp* 'xcuse me!!

I have 2 papers due next week, so what am I doing?? I am posting on my blog instead of writing. Yessirree bobby!! And drinking soy milk (yummm!) smoking a cig and listening to Phish. Yup, I'm procrastinating. Yes I am! I also did a load of laundry & talked to my Mom. Oh, and I read some stories Kate sent me to edit. No no avoidance at all. I think I'm going to have to drag the laptop to work tomorrow & spend the evening in the library and write.

I have lots and lots of ideas churning away in my brain, I just can't put them to paper yet, I need to ponder more. These thoughts are for my African American Lit class on "The Confessions of Nat Turner" by William Styron. Lots of stuff going on in that novel, I'm thinking of writing about the huge sexual and homosexual undercurrent running through it. I just hope I can get five pages out of it. Once I get thoughts to paper it should all just flow.

My parents kick ass. I love them, they are so great. I was telling Stacy this evening how I'm a little on the broke side (all my student loan money's gone: much needed clothes, bills, groceries, doctors' appointments). Well, I go home & check my mail & there was a card from my Mom with some much appreciated coupons and a check for some moolah. My parents ROCK. I can count on one hand how many times I've asked them for money, I'd rather lie about finances than ask them for money. So this check was a pleasant suprise!! I can now buy som groceries! YAY Mom & Dad!!

Ok, I'm going to go brainstorm. Have a great night. Love & smoochies to you all.
Halloween

Happy October!!! My favorite month has just began and I'm already pondering the end of it.

I love October. Cool crisp days, cold but not too cold nights. The changing of the seasons. Knowing that Autumn's offically started. Halloween at the end of the month. Ahhh my favorite month!! It's not even my birthday month (although I do know a certain Martha who's birthday is fast approaching!!)!!

I think part of it has to do with Halloween, which is my favorite holiday. If I ever get married, I think I'd like to have my wedding around Halloween. It'd be so much fun. And I'm not one to really dress up for it. I am more of an observer when it comes to Halloween. I like to see how people around me are celebrating it, I don't get bummed out if I cannot dress up for the day.

This year, I am dressing up!! After much arm twisting by Stacy, (I was going to go as a college student, but she said no) I started racking my brain on what I could be. Dan's play opens on Halloween & he's "allowing" us to dress up for opening night. After having dinner with N last night and from the converstation we were having about the stupidity of gender stereotypes I had the brilliant idea of going in drag for Halloween. So, now I'm going to have to get some ace bandages, to bind my chest (the hips are a lost cause), go shopping for "guy" clothes & become more in touch with my butch side for the rest of the month as prep work for the 31st.

Back to work.... Hope you all are having a wonderful day. Love & kisses to you all.
